01 / BOUNDARY

Define the exact buying question

The correct tyre and wheel choice follows the exact vehicle placard and approved configuration, not appearance or a listing description.

The Corolla name has been used across many countries and product programmes. That global familiarity is useful for broad orientation but creates a specific purchasing risk: search results can silently combine different bodies, engines, model years and local names. A China-source sedan should therefore be contracted from its original identity rather than from an international brochure. The same discipline protects parts ordering, destination applications and resale records after arrival.

A useful brief states destination, steering-side and compliance constraints, acceptable production period, body, powertrain, condition, mileage, budget and delivery boundary. If any of those facts changes, revisit the affected conclusion rather than carrying approval to another car.

02 / EVIDENCE

Evidence that should exist

Record the door-jamb tyre and loading label, installed tyre markings, wheel dimensions, cold-pressure instruction, load and speed ratings, production dates, repair marks and TPMS type. Compare all positions because a used car may carry mixed sizes, brands, wear levels or replacement wheels. Inspect tread depth and pattern, sidewalls, beads, puncture repairs, bulges, cracking, rim bends, welds, corrosion, missing fasteners and clearance. Measure cold pressures with a reliable gauge and record warning-lamp and sensor behaviour instead of assuming that a dark TPMS lamp proves correct inflation.

undefined

Save original files with their source and date. Screenshots can support a conversation, but they should not replace an original document, diagnostic export, measurement or VIN-linked inspection when those are available.

03 / FAILURE

What can invalidate the answer

The maximum pressure moulded on a tyre sidewall is not the vehicle’s recommended operating pressure. An attractive larger wheel can change rolling circumference, load capacity, ride, clearance, fuel use, speed information and the behaviour of systems that depend on wheel-speed or alignment data. Uneven wear can direct alignment, suspension, bearing or collision checks, but it does not diagnose the cause by itself. A recently cleared TPMS warning also does not establish sensor condition.

Common failure modes include a brochure from another market, a registration date treated as production year, a different VIN shown in media, a quotation with missing charges, a cleared diagnostic record or a seller description copied from another trim. Mark each conflict as pass, hold or reject and record why.

04 / WORKSHEET

Build a Corolla evidence record

ControlEvidence standard
01 · vehicle tyre placardOriginal or independently verifiable record tied to the selected VIN.
02 · size, load and speed ratingsDated inspection or test result with method, limitations and reviewer.
03 · cold pressure and TPMSDestination effect, cost exposure, approval status and refresh date.
04 · tread and sidewall conditionOriginal or independently verifiable record tied to the selected VIN.
05 · wheel, alignment and clearanceDated inspection or test result with method, limitations and reviewer.
06 · destination replacement planDestination effect, cost exposure, approval status and refresh date.

Review the completed table without relying on the original sales conversation. If another reviewer cannot identify the vehicle, reproduce the test and understand the cost boundary, the file is not ready for approval.

05 / SCENARIO

Apply it to a real purchase

Price a destination-ready set at the correct specification before shipping, including valves or sensors, balancing, alignment and any required initialization. For rough roads or scarce sizes, local availability and sidewall protection may matter more than styling. Keep the accepted wheel and tyre condition in the loading file so new transit damage is identifiable at arrival.

End the review with a written decision. A hold needs a missing item, responsible person and deadline. Rejected evidence stays in the record with the reason for rejection so that it cannot return later as if it were current proof.

06 / EXPORT

Carry the result through export

Connect this conclusion to the same VIN on the quotation, contract, inspection, invoice, export records and loading file. Preserve any accepted defect and promised repair in writing. Destination taxes, conformity, registration, insurance, fuel, parts and warranty remain separate local decisions even after the vehicle clears China export procedures.

At delivery, inspect the vehicle before cleaning, repair or extensive driving where practical. Compare keys, accessories, odometer, fuel or charge level, glass, panels and underbody with the loading record, then record any transport damage promptly under the applicable carrier or insurance procedure.

Connect wear to condition and ownership cost

Uneven wear should return to the suspension and structure inspection, not receive an automatic alignment diagnosis. Price the correct replacement set in the parts plan and account for pressure and wheel choice in the fuel-economy estimate.

08 / QUESTIONS

Questions before approval

Which pressure should a Corolla use?

Use the vehicle manufacturer’s label or exact owner-manual instruction for that configuration, not the sidewall maximum.

Does TPMS replace manual pressure checks?

No. TPMS warns about significant underinflation; regular cold-pressure checks are still necessary.

Can different wheel sizes be fitted safely?

Only when an approved specification preserves load, clearance, rolling circumference and system compatibility.
